Latch Model

If your trailer is not equipped with an adjustable winch stand, you may benefit by using this bracket.

Installing a Catch-N-Release latch on your trailer may cause your boat's resting position on your trailer to shift back 2–4 inches. To compensate for this change, adjust your winch stand forward.

If your winch stand is not adjustable, use this bracket to shift the latch forward approximately 2" on your trailer.

This forward bracket will also help keep your boat shifted forward on your trailer if you are already short on storage length space.

Available for XR300, R300 and XD375 Catch-N-Release latches.

Important Notes:

  • This bracket is not compatible with Profile series winch stands that have closed-top designs and a low-angle layout.
  • If you have a 4" wide bracket on your trailer, you will also need this Wide Bracket Mounting Kit which includes a long mounting bolt and shims. The longer bolt will be used to mount the forward bracket to the trailer. And the shims should be placed between the outer edges of the single mounting hole on the bracket and the inside edges of your trailer bracket to ensure a snug fit.

How to install the forward bracket
The latch system normally installs in place of the existing roller wheel on your trailer. But when using this forward bracket, you'll install the forward bracket to the trailer in place of the existing roller, and then install the Drotto latch to the two other holes on the forward bracket.

  1. Remove existing roller wheel from trailer
  2. Install the forward bracket to the trailer so that it's positioned on the inside of the roller wheel bracket on the trailer. You'll use the singular bolt on the bracket for this step. Also be sure the tube spacer is placed back in place between the bracket to ensure a snug fit.
  3. Install the Drotto latch to the two other bolts grouped together on the forward bracket. The latch system will install on the inside of the forward bracket in this step.
  4. Tighten everything in place so the latch is snug in the forward bracket, and the forward bracket is snug on the trailer. It should be snug enough so that it does not fall down on its own and not able to be easily moved by hand, but loose enough to reposition as the boat hits it.
